Our little Ladybirds are having a wonderful week. They have an interest in the Role Play Area and they have been bathing their 'babies' in the little water tray in their garden area. Butterflies have been little scientists this week as they explore the properties of salt, glue and runny paint. they made the most fantastic, colourful effects on the paper. The patterns made with the glue were all different, some swirly, some spikey and some smeared with a brush. We are lucky to have beautiful Snowdrops and Daffodils growing in the woodland area of our nursery grounds. The children are having lots of fun this week preparing the ground for the upcoming sowing of seeds for the vegetable patch. Dragonflies children have been learning all about the life cycles of bugs. Their book of the month is 'How Many Bugs in a Box' by David A. Carter. Of course one of their favourites is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. They have enjoyed and explored this topic through lots of rich and sensory experiences. Lots of singing, climbing and cuddles a plenty in the baby room this week. We have really enjoyed the the paint and collage to make our brilliant bug display! Charlotte has been busy baking with the children this week and they have made the most delicious biscuits. Digging in the soil, dressing up as bugs, compost in the Tuff Tray, bug hunt in the garden and making bugs using art and craft has been keeping our Dragonfly group busy recently. The children have discovered a lot about bugs, where they live, their home is called a "habitat", insects have six legs and two antennae. The little Ladybirds upstairs have really enjoyed their time playing in the playroom and enjoy a little circle time everyday with their friends in Butterflies.
