The excited squeals of water play, favourite stories, picnics, group games, making models, gardening and exploring the sensory tray are all fun things that we have been doing recently. There is usually a theme or a story that provokes a conversation. Some times it's an 'invitation to play' and explore. This in turn encourages more questions and for the children to be curious, touch, feel, test theories, share ideas and be in that moment. The interest table is often a 'way in' for children to be curious and then build up the confidence to feel settled and explore the environment around them. A familiar story really helps with this and the children are very much enjoying the story 'Dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell.
