A collection of art work from all ages around our nursery. We have truly embraced the ‘Under the Sea’ theme. Our ‘Plastic Free’ ambassador Cheeky Monkey has been helping us choose lots of stories about how to avoid rubbish entering the sea and recycling items. We are applying for 'Plastic Free Status' as a nursery. We have made many changes along the way including using glass milk bottles instead of plastic ones, using natural cotton/bamboo material reusable wipes, flanne
We just had to show these super cute crabs and jelly fish adorning the Garden Room walls. The children painted their hands to create these fantastic crab creations. We have really embraced this topic since World Ocean Day & the children chat to us about their own experiences at the seaside.
Butterflies have had a gorgeous morning in the woods. They cooked up a treat in the mud kitchen and loved exploring the wild flower garden. The flowers are looking stunning with their rich oranges and red tones. Butterflies had access to paint in the pots to colour and decorate more pictures for their display board. Meanwhile, the balcony garden is open upstairs for the Ladybird and Butterfly children to play outside as and when they wish. We can hear lots of lovely sing
Why are Kindergarten dressed as pirates? Because they ARRRRRR!! Okay enough of the jokes, but 'Elephants' group have loved every minute of this topic. They have painted the sea effect by reusing large bubble wrap and made a giant pirate ship using upside down tables. They even had large planks of wood to walk on! We use loose parts and tinker trays as an invitation for the children to play, touch, explore and discover the wonders of the bottom of the ocean.
The 'Elephant' group in Kindergarten were given the ingredients flour, oil, salt & water. They measured, mixed, added, poured, stirred, kneaded, divided, squished & counted to make the perfect mixture. The children had the opportunity to develop their cutting skills by carefully selecting a few stems of spearmint. They snipped the leaves and added them to the mixture along with some spoons of hot chocolate powder. It smelt wonderful and the children played with their doug
Kindergarten have been sailing the Seven Seas, walking the plank, painting a pirate ship, making treasure maps & hats! They have enjoyed many stories of pirates and lost islands. They have even been dancing to some very jolly pirate tunes!
Dragonflies have been exploring the wild garden area and watering the wild flowers. We counted the petals and looked closely at the flowers. We saw pollen inside the flowers and called to the bees and butterflies to come and collect the sweet nectar! The children lifted a log stump with care and consideration not to disturb the creatures living under it. We always put rocks and logs back exactly where we found them. We have been recycling plastic bottles and using them a
The squishy, wibbly fun of playing with jelly in a tuff tray in the woods was an exciting activity for Butterflies on Thursday morning. They spent the morning exploring the wobbly texture playing with the sea creatures. They also had great fun painting and exploring the vegetable patch. Meanwhile the crafts for the 'Under the Sea' theme are looking fantastic. We just love the bubbly effect of painted bubble wrap.
