Dragonflies take every opportunity to enjoy our large lawn and today they had their snack outside. They enjoyed fruit and their manners were beautiful. It is 'International Dance Day' today so we will be having a dance outside before lunch. What a fun day!
Kindergarten have just started a three week topic about 'People Who Help Us'. The children are learning about Fire Fighters and Police Officers this week. We are enjoying lots of stories and fact books. Our display boards are looking great full of art work.
It's been a hive of activity in Kindergarten this morning. The 'Elephant' group have been singing 'Happy Birthday' to a friend down the telephone and now they outside dancing along to lots of fun songs. Penguins are also joining in with the dancing in the garden and celebrating 'International Dance Day'.
We're very much looking forward to stopping for jacket potatoes at lunch time then more fun this afternoon.
Stories, art, craft, singing and playing in the garden. This week is so much fun. Ladybirds have started their Spring time display and the symmetry butterfly paintings are beautiful. They painted their hands to make the flower petals.
We have successfully raised tadpoles and watched them grow into froglets and then into happy, healthy, hopping frogs! The children have absolutely loved watching them grow and develop. They have cared for them, fed them, counted them and sang to them! Cheeky Monkey has been awarded his Frog badge to represent how as a nursery we have been learning about life cycles.
Happy World Earth Day! As you are probably aware, we are well on our way to achieving 'Plastic Free Status' as a nursery through the Surfers Against Sewage scheme. Caring for our environment and learning about nature is such an integral part of our nursery. Cheeky Monkey is our Eco Ambassador and he is awarded badges on his jumper to track just what we have achieved as a nursery so far this year. We have been raising caterpillars and this afternoon, the whole nursery waved
What a gorgeous week so far. The children enjoy making choices about where to play and what to play with. One of the most popular activities at the moment is the sand tray out of the decking. We are so fortunate to be able to spill out onto the lawn and we have even been enjoying lunch al fresco style! After lunch, some of our friends have a little nap and then we're all ready and refreshed to play in the afternoon before stopping for tea - usually a picnic on the lawn.
As you would expect, Kindergarten have been playing outside in the garden. Both rooms 'Penguins' & 'Elephants' have a large garden area to play in complete with a designated playground. The children love this area for games including catch, hop scotch, tennis and pedal cars. The large playrooms are beautiful and there's nothing better than to fling open the doors where the children can choose where to play and what to play with. We have loved our picnic tea times and group
