We Made a Bird Hide!
This week the whole nursery have been enjoying learning all about birds & preparing for the #BigGardenBirdWatch. Kindergarten have made a bird hide & they are learning all about the different birds found in the wild. They made some wonderful binoculars to watch the birds. We have been enjoying the book 'Betty Binoculars' written by our talented friend & past colleague Suzie Laverty. https://www.dudleydoodlebooks.co.uk/betty-binoculars

Are you having a 'Flock Down' Weekend?
This week we have been learning all about birds and enjoying stories, songs, puppet shows, poems & crafts relating to birds. We have loved feeding the birds and watching them in the garden. Are you taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch this weekend?

The Benefits of Playdough
Dragonflies have been making their own little creations using playdough. They have been using tools to help them shape their creations. Playdough is such a lovely calming activity and promotes conversation, mindfulness & social skills. Using the tools to help the children's designs enhances their fine motor skills, hand eye coordination & helps bring their imagination & creativity to life. We think they are brilliant and we just had to share these with you!

Making Muddy Memories!
Last Friday Dragonflies certainly embraced the great outdoors. They have been playing in the mud pit, the diggers, the mud kitchen, learning about squirrels & they have even enjoyed their morning snack outside. We love the sight of muddy wellies outside the classroom - what fun!

Lets Dance!
We don't have the January blues! Butterflies have been dancing & singing all their favourite tunes! Ladybirds have had a lovely time playing and they continue to make their display painting lots of trees in different shades of green. We welcome our new friends that have joined us to play.

Squirrel Appreciation Day
All children in the nursery have been talking about Squirrels this week. We have been taking part in lots of fun activities to learn all about them. We have been painting pictures, drawing, making collages with a variety of textures for the tail, reading poems, stories & making dreys for the toy squirrels using a variety of sticks, twigs, leaves & grass.

National 'Winnie the Pooh Day'
We are celebrating National 'Winnie the Pooh Day' today! The adventures of Winnie the Pooh & friends, written by A. A Milne, has been entertaining children since it's first publication in 1926! We have been reading stories, painting the characters from the book, painting paper trees just like the ones in the 'Hundred Acre Wood' to make a display in the baby room & Kindergarten were joined by our very own Winnie (our pet rabbit) at story time this morning!

Creative Fun in Butterflies
Butterflies are a creative bunch! The children love exploring paint and using a variety of tools to paint with. These include paintbrushes, forks & even twigs and sticks! They have really enjoyed the playdough and have created lots of shapes.
