On Thursday 5th March, we celebrated World Book Day. It was a fantastic day full of excited children and staff ready to share stories and celebrate the wonderful world of books.
We had a wonderful day full of fun, laughter and there was also book binding, bookmark crafts, making Paddington Bear's favourite marmalade sandwiches and story sensory bottles to explore and enjoy.
Some children in Kindergarten enjoyed a story time at Waterstones bookshop in Barnstaple. Thank you to Rachel and the team for making us feel so welcome. The children were so excited to exchange their book token for a book to keep! We loved the Disgusting Blob story! Then an exciting trip back to nursery on a double decker bus - what a morning!
As you are probably aware books, rhymes, songs and story telling are all a huge part of nursery life.
We welcome Clare from Story Bears on a weekly basis and we enjoy regular story times, rhymes and even story telling around the campfire!
We have also recently signed up with the National Literary Trust to ‘go all in’ in aid of the National Year of Reading. This enables us to enhance our provision with resources, training and webinars to promote literacy in the early years. We will bring you more information on this soon!
