We have really enjoyed hosting Kim from the Learning Journey but for now, it's time for Kim to take a little break from our sessions. The children have absolutely loved her visits and some of our most fond memories have been cooking pancakes on the campfire, exploring with ice, igniting our own mini fires using a Dragon Sneeze' ferro rod and making little twig rafts.

Kim invited the children to build a gigantic volcano using sticks. This encouraged all kinds of conversations ranging from discussions on different lengths, making comparisons, how to carry or drag a stick safely and how to fix them together in one place. Our favourite bit was when Kim added vinegar to the bicarbonate of soda and we watched the eruption!

Our school leavers had so much fun in Forest School making Kazoos using sticks and a blade of grass to create the whistle. The first thing to do is to safely baton (split) the wood with a knife and mallet. The children really listened and tapped away "like a woodpecker" until the wood split. The children then whittled a little grove, enough to make a hole for the sound to travel through. It wasn't long until with had our very own Kazoo band!
