Families were invited to spend an evening on the lawn to celebrate the 'Puffins' Kindergarten class as they prepare to leave nursery and start their school career.
Sarah welcomed everyone warmly and commenced proceedings with a thank you to all the outside agencies, friends and family who visit us in order to enhance the children’s learning, adding to their Cultural Capital. We thank Kim from the Learning Journey and Clare from Story Bears who visit us regularly as part of our enrichment programme. We also thank Ashton and the team at Ferdinand Collective North Devon for all the fantastic football coaching. Also a massive thank you to our speech therapist Lucy who visits weekly assessing, supporting and coaching children and their families.
We thank Emma Hedge who runs Hedgehogs Bakery. Nothing ordinary of course, we have seen the children produce Cornish pasties, Cream Teas and Courgette Muffins!
We celebrate the 'Keep Reading Alive in '25' library initiative led by Danni and our team have recently trained in Woodworking for the early years bringing new skills to our nursery.
Some notable achievements in this recent year include 'Maths Champion status' thanks to Sarah and Gaynor who have studied aspects of maths development and audits. We also hold Prem Aware Nursery Status, along with Plastic Free Status. We won first prize in the Barnstaple Carnival 2024 and we won the Petroc Apprenticeship and T Level Awards earlier this year.
We celebrate our fantastic team of course. Many of whom have been with us 10 years + and some been with us for over 20 years! At least four staff having over 30 years + nursery experience. That's a whopping 280 years combined teaching experience!
We also thank and acknowledge our Kindergarten team who have worked so closely with the children and supported their development, Liz who has kept us all fed with delicious meals, Emma our incredible SENDCo, Donna usually the first voice that parents hear at St. Michael's, our wonderful bank staff who cover at a moments notice and of course our fabulous Manager Sarah.
The children sang the most beautiful rendition of 'You've got a friend in me' complete with Makaton actions all the way through. Each child was then presented with a personalised card and poem.
We recognise that these children are strong and resilient and we wish them all the very best in their future. We are very proud of you all - Good Luck!
