Dragonflies & Kindergarten have really enjoyed their music session today using the African drums and other musical instruments. The children were encouraged to use their instruments to make sounds & rhythms fast, slow, quiet & loud. We thought about how to make our music capture the spirit of the characters & animals in the book 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne. Did you hear the thuds from the elephants stomping & the ostrich running?! In the garden we acted out - 'We'r
Dragonflies have been learning about the changing of the seasons and making the most adorable little hedgehogs using a fork to represent the prickles. The displays are looking fantastic with painted pumpkins, squirrels & printed leaves in paint. We have been playing in the garden lots and chasing falling leaves.
Ladybirds and Butterflies upstairs (0-2 years) have been exploring the properties of paints, chalks, glue & natural materials. We have some fantastic painted hedgehogs adorning the walls and painted tree pictures printed using cotton reels. The children have been using glue to stick down crispy fallen leaves and even made their own using tissue paper! We love the conker rolling effects too. Wrapped up warm, the children have been making full use of the garden. Chasing bub
We are very much focusing on children's emotional well-being at nursery. We provide a calming environment for little ones to feel safe and secure. Every room enjoys lots of stories, rhymes and singing. Our team are always on hand to offer lots of encouragement, praise and opportunities to play inside & out. We practice 'Hygge' in nursery which is a Danish term to describe a feeling of cosiness, contentment & enjoying the moment. We have a beautiful woodland area where we
For many, many years we have celebrated St. Michael's Day and nothing was going to stop us this year! The tradition continued where the children sat down to watch Sarah & Katie's annual puppet show. We were blessed with beautiful weather so there was plenty of space for the dragon to spring up on everyone and try and take the Angel's beautiful garden for himself. Thank goodness St. Michael was there to save the day! A massive thank you to the talented Emma Hedge for making
Back in the summer, the children explored the theme Space and found the story 'Aliens Love Underpants' by Claire Freedman, very funny! They even made their own washing line - excellent use of fine motor skills. The colourful planets are simply fantastic!
We've been looking back at some of our lovely memories this summer. We nurtured our caterpillars and watched them grow - just like The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It was so exciting watching them emerge from their cocoons. We gathered around in the garden to watch the big release!
