Coloured rice always engages the interest in the children. Just by leaving a tray of coloured rice, some spoons and scoops, the children's curiosity allows them to explore the properties of the rice. Pouring, scooping, filling containers and hearing the sound of the rice as it fills the tray are all fun and creative ways that the children are learning and developing skills.
