Thank you to our friend Ruby for visiting us to talk about the Islamic festivals Ramadan and Eid. The children were very interested in Ruby's talk and were keen to take turns standing on the prayer mat, wearing the Taqiyah (hat) and scarf. The children enjoyed a story about Hassan & Aneesa and how Ramadan is a time to be thankful and grateful. It is a time to be charitable too. Many Muslims fast during the day. In the afternoon, the children made beautiful lanterns to adorn their windows.
A beautiful day where these experiences and opportunities enable the children to acquire an appreciation, understanding and respect for their own culture and the traditions of others too.
