Did you know that 21st October is National Apple Day? We have lots of apple trees in our large garden and the children in Kindergarten were keen to help harvest the fallen apples. We talked about their size, colour, shape, weight and some children spotted holes in some the apples where little creatures had munched on them! We talked about the rotten apples and learnt all about how they can decay on the ground "Look all the green has gone away". Once cut open, some of the children used them to stamp and print with. Others poured them into the water tray and predicted whether they would float or sink. We had a lot of fun mixing apple scented hair conditioner with flour and making the most authentic and delicious smelling apple playdough. We even added leaves and stalks just like a real apple.
