A Little 'Pizza' my Heart!

Hedgehogs Bakery is a weekly offering for children in Dragonflies and Kindergarten to learn some vital life skills. Some of the children from Dragonflies made heart shaped pizza with Emma Hedge.

Emma explains that the session was a huge success with the children making independent choices of toppings, using the cutters to cut out the heart shape base and cutting the ingredients to size.

Cookery is rich in opportunities to learn about maths, creativity, texture, colour, shape, awareness of the senses, turn taking and science to name just a few! It also nurtures a feeling of togetherness as a group and encourages social skills. Notably, Emma saw and heard the children encouraging each other, offering advice and offering help to use the utensils.

After 6 - 10 minutes in the oven, the pizzas came out looking and smelling scrumptious!

They tasted great too!
