Aquarius Training Teach First Aid

Thank you to Aquarius Training for teaching us basic First Aid as part of our annual Life Skills Programme for Kindergarten children. The children have enjoyed using real bandages on each other and their teddies. The have loved learning where their heart is and it's function. The even had a go at CPR on 'Flat Stan'. Each child received a certificate, a sticker, a colouring sheet and a bandage to take home.

Understanding Eid & Ramadan

Thank you to our friend Ruby for visiting us to talk about the Islamic festivals Ramadan and Eid.  The children were very interested in Ruby's talk and were keen to take turns standing on the prayer mat, wearing the Taqiyah (hat) and scarf.  The children enjoyed a story about Hassan & Aneesa and how Ramadan is a time to be thankful and grateful.  It is a time to be charitable too.  Many Muslims fast during the day.  In the afternoon, the children made beautiful lanterns to adorn their windows. A beautiful day where these experiences and opportunities enable the children to acquire an appreciation, understanding and respect for their own culture and the traditions of others too.

Fire Brigade Visit St. Michael's

As part of Kindergarten's Life Skills programme, the children were visited by 'White Watch' Fire Fighters. We would like to thank the Fire Fighters for teaching us all about their job and the equipment that they use. We enjoyed sitting in the Fire Engine and some of us even sat in the driver's seat! The highlight was definitely having a go at the hose and aiming for the cones in the car park!

Learning about the Opticians

The children enjoyed a Role Play Area turned into and Opticians and they made some really fun glasses to take home. We discussed the design of the glasses and talked about how they help some people see clearer.

Police Visit

We would like to thank Devon & Cornwall Police for visiting us to talk to the children about the work they do and how they help us within the community. The whole Nursery were invited to watch a short performance about the role of a Police dog. Some of the children hid with Sarah in the garden and Bravo used his skill at tracking to find them! The children loved looking around the Police van too.

Ambulance Crew Visit

A big thank you to the South Western Ambulance Service NHS, for visiting Dragonflies and Kindergarten this morning. It was a fantastic morning to kick off our annual fortnight of 'Life Skills'. The children enjoyed wearing the helmets, listening to each other's heart beat, switching on the siren and flashing lights and learning about maps.

Baby Art

Springtime flowers, turtles prints using a potato masher and painting with ice! Our play room displays are looking great!

Our team felt honoured to be invited to the CLIC Sargent thank you evening at Portmore Golf Club. The team of volunteers have raised incredible funds in North Devon. Did you know that Emma is one of the CLIC Sargent team in her spare time? Donna had a wonderful surprise...a medal presented to her commemorating her incredible achievement running the Exmoor Endurance Marathon.

Thank you to our catering team who cooked us the most delicious roast lunch to enjoy in the village hall. We met cows in the field, found a ladybird, picked dandelions and collected lots of nature in the nature basket.
