Puppy Love

We met the most adorable little puppy today called Rex. He is an 8 week old Fox Labrador and he loved his time at nursery. All the children greeted him with happy smiles and giggles. Rex was very good and he is most welcome to come back and visit again!

First Day of Spring

Back in November, the children made our little hedgehog Spikey, a lovely warm nest made with sticks, twigs and leaves. We sang lullabies to help Spikey hibernate throughout the winter. Yesterday was the first day of Spring. We marked this occasion by waking up Spikey and helping him find some food. One little girl gave Spikey a china cup of water and a leaf!

Mallets Make Splatter Painting Fun

Dragonflies and Kindergarten children continued the fun for Holi the Hindu Festival of Colour, by using mallets to splat the colourful paint. We had a terrific time in the woods making splatter paintings and using different techniques such as flicking and finger painting, to create a gigantic masterpiece!

Happy Holi Festival

The Nursery has been an explosion of colour this week learning about the Hindu Festival of Colour, Holi. The children have experimented mixing colours together, blending, flicking and sprinkling powder paint to create different effects. Butterflies even took a large roll of paper up to the woods and got really messy making beautiful patterns. Kindergarten & Dragonflies have enjoyed story books of Holi and looking at the fantastic colorful festival photographs that take place in India every year in Spring.

Red Nose Day Fun

Thank you to all our families for baking and donating cakes, biscuits and treats for our bake sale. We had a brilliant day wearing red, buying deely boppers, red noses and buying cakes.

Comic Relief

Our Bake Sale is officially OPEN! We are selling cakes, biscuits and treats between now and Friday. It's not too late to bake or bring in shop bought cakes to donate (please remember we are nut free). We are raising as much money as we can for Comic Relief. A really big thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

Butterfly Children Visit the Woods

A beautiful morning was spent in the woods with our little Butterfly children yesterday. Our theme is 'Transport' so the children found fun and muddy ways to learn about vehicles. The highlight of the morning was rolling the wheeled toys through the mud and making track prints on paper. The diggers and tractor toys dug up soil and we added water to make it especially muddy! We also met a huge spider and sang 'Incy Wincy Spider' to him!

World Book Day Fun

We are having so much fun this morning meeting all these wonderful story characters and children arriving in their pyjamas! The Breakfast Club car took Audrey Hepburn, Julius Cesar, a gymnast & Fireman Sam to school this morning! We are enjoying a morning sharing stories.

Pancake Day

Our kitchen has served up over 150 pancakes today! The children and staff have enjoyed their pancakes and they disappeared in record time!

All About Wool

Forest School and Wild Hygge Groups have been learning all about where wool comes from. The children explored the texture, smell & properties of the wool. We talked about how wool keeps the sheep warm in the winter and how the farmer shears the sheep in summer. Many of us were wearing woollen socks and items of clothing. The mini-spinning wheel showed how the wool can be spun into yard and then used to knit with.

Painting Cherry Blossom

The art table was covered with the most beautiful Cherry Blossom branches and the children were provided with a variety of card, paper, glue, crepe paper and tissue paper. The children really enjoyed dribbling the glue onto the card and the patterns that it makes. We think the pictures look wonderful.

After School Fun in February

We have been well and truly spoilt with the sunny weather this February. We have been out in the garden enjoying cricket, hide and seek and other chasing games. We have taken out the junk modelling items and enjoyed making obstacle courses & mazes for the tennis balls. The Mud Kitchen has been a hive of activity with Mud Soup and Grass Sprinkles! We are very keen to teach the children about recycling materials and looking after the Earth. The children enjoy taking responsibility to recycle cardboard, paper, tin, glass & plastic.
