Kindergarten have been learning about the festival of Eid, which is an important part of the Islamic Calendar. One of the highlights of the talk was trying the delicious Samosas. We tried on beautiful clothing including saris and headscarves. We took off our shoes and explored what it is like to sit on the prayer mat. We are very grateful and thankful for such an informative visit for the children to experience.
The children attending Breakfast Club are enjoying a special treat of hot sweet pancakes with drizzled honey. They are enjoying their breakfast out in the morning sunshine on the lawn. Afterschool Club children are enjoying a lovely treat of milkshakes with squirted cream and sprinkles.
Dragonflies have been busy attending to the allotment. The children have been counting the strawberries and we have been exploring their colour, shape and size - although not quite ready to test their taste yet! The children have been picking dandelion leaves for our pet bunny, Winnie Butter-Jelly. She loves the affections of the children and she hops over to them and munches the leaves from their hands.
Thank you to Tarka Tennis for teaching the children tennis in such a fun and interactive way. We have enjoyed visiting the Tennis Centre on occasions & making full use of all the fantastic equipment. Our favourite games have been 'Balloon Balance' and 'The Elbow Game'. During our last lesson, we had a fun tennis tournament full of relays and team games. Each child received a certificate and stars on their chart during a presentation at the end of the tournament. New booki
Thank you to everyone who has made our sports Day at Petroc such a fantastic event. The children were amazing and took part with such enthusiasm, the parents and grandparents deserve medals for their races too! We even had the youngest ever runner in the Toddler Race, at just 4 months old, with just a little help from her Daddy! Thank you to the wonderful team for the enormous effort behind the scenes to make this such a special event.
Another fun trip out was enjoyed yesterday by the Ladybirds and Butterflies. The children enjoyed visiting the supermarket to select some fruit and vegetables. There was a lot to choose from and we talked about all the different fruit and vegetables, colours, shapes and how they feel to hold. We bought some vegetables to bring back to nursery. We arrived back in time for lunch and the children then enjoyed a nap after their tiring morning.
Ladybirds and Butterflies had a wonderful morning at the park last Wednesday. The children enjoyed the stroll out in their push chairs and once at the park, enjoyed exploring the play equipment with their friends.
After School Club have enjoyed a surprise tea time treat at The Pelican Fish & Chip Restaurant in Sticklepath. The bewildered children wondered why they were asked to leave their belongings on the minibus as we then proceeded to walk to the secret destination. The children couldn't believe their luck to have a treat to celebrate the end of summer term and of course to wish our Year 6 well as they start their new school adventure in Secondary School.
This is the song that the children sang at the Leavers' Supper. Sing to the tune of 'I'm a little teapot'.... I'm a little graduate, Aren't you proud of me, I know my numbers and my ABCs, I made lots of friends and had fun too, Now I'm off to my new big school!
What a very special evening to wish our Kindergarten farewell and good luck starting big school. The Leavers' Supper is always an exciting and emotional event on the St. Michael's calendar. The children enjoyed sausage and chips on the lawn and the children sang a beautiful song. The Kindergarten team recited a beautiful poem. Each child received a little card with their graduation photo inside. Thank you to all the families for celebrating with us.
